Haines Alaska

Summer. It`s a very busy time indeed. It`s my turn to update the blog and I`m way overdue. Let`s start with our weekend in Haines. We went to fish for salmon, and no, I don`t have an amazing picture of us with a trophy salmon, but we had lots of fun anyway. We did have some success fishing while competing with the seals in the river and watching the eagles dropping in for a kill. That place is very alive with marine and wildlife and that`s without the bears. Luckily, we didn`t have to move aside for any bears as they were still in the forest waiting for the peak of the salmon run. I lost the camera and all the fishing gear for a while and the warden had to look at the pictures to find us. Thanks guy. We left Haines on a timeline to make a dinner date which didn`t work at all. On that sunday, we fished in the morning, hiked at the summit (1080 metres), found a good sliding spot, and swam in a river at million dollar falls. We were late for dinner but still managed to sqweeze in some good times with Sandra and Phillip. pics: Isa sliding with sandals, kids at summit, Ani in Tahanne river, kids with dolly varden(me in background).

  1. What a wonderful time you had! Lea May, what kind of wings are you wearing? They match your sweater. Anison, aren't you happy the bears stayed in the trees!
    Lots of love, Nana
